Partial-birth Abortion
The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Bush in 2003, was upheld by the Supreme Court on April 18, 2007 by a 5-4 vote in the consolidated cases of Gonzales v. Carhart and Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood. The court indicated that its ruling about specific abortion procedures, known as D&E, did not overturn previous rulings, including Roe v. Wade.
